The OnePlus 12 introduces three key upgrades from its predecessor, the OnePlus 11, focusing on the display, performance, and battery life. The device features a BOE-manufactured X1 2K OLED display with a 6.82-inch size and a resolution of 1440 x 3168 pixels. Remarkably, it can reach a brightness of 4500 nits, making it the smartphone with the brightest display on the market. The LTPO display technology allows for a variable refresh rate, going as low as 1Hz. Additionally, the OnePlus 12's display has received an A+ certification from DisplayMate, indicating excellent color accuracy and brightness.

In terms of performance, the OnePlus 12 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, outperforming its predecessor and competitors like Apple's A17 Pro and Qualcomm's 8 Gen 2. Qualcomm claims a 30% increase in speed compared to the previous generation.

The battery capacity has been upgraded to 5,400 mAh from the OnePlus 11's 5,000 mAh. While the charging speed remains at 100W, the OnePlus 12 reintroduces wireless charging at 50W, a feature absent in the OnePlus 11. Additionally, the phone supports 10W reverse wireless charging for other devices and accessories.

The base variant of the OnePlus 12 offers 256GB of storage paired with 12GB of RAM. There are also higher-tier options, including 16GB/512GB, 16GB/1TB, and 24GB/1TB variants. The availability of these configurations for global units remains to be confirmed.

The camera setup includes a 50MP wide Sony LYT-808 sensor as the primary camera, along with a 48MP ultrawide Sony IMX 581 sensor, consistent with the OnePlus 11. The periscope lens has been upgraded to a 64MP omnivision OV64B unit, capable of achieving 3X zoom without compromising image quality.

Another enhancement is the upgraded Type-C port on the OnePlus 12, now featuring USB 3.2 Gen 1 compared to last year's USB 2.0. This improvement not only facilitates faster data transfers but also introduces display-out capabilities.

The OnePlus 12 comes pre-loaded with Android 14-based ColorOS 14 for the Chinese market, while the global version is expected to run on OxygenOS 14.

Introducing innovative features, the OnePlus 12 incorporates Rain touch technology, enabling usability even in wet conditions. Additionally, a new X-axis linear motor for haptics, known as the AAC Technologies (CSA+ 0916) Bionic vibration motor with the codename "Megatron," enhances tactile feedback.

In terms of color options, the China launch highlights three choices: Leave blank (white), green, and Iwaguro (black).

While OnePlus has not officially confirmed the global launch date, notable leaker Max Jambor suggests that the OnePlus 12's global launch is anticipated to take place on January 23rd.
